Ceramic tiles are a quite a popular flooring option. They are durable, easy to set up and like any floors, they require care and cleaning. The tiles are usually installed in kitchens, bathrooms and other areas in your home where there is a lot of traffic.
With proper care, they can last you for decades. That’s why it’s essential to learn different cleaning techniques which can prolong the tile life, and many your home look beautiful and clean. So, here are a couple of ideas, which can come in handy in these types of situations.
Vacuum floor daily
You should apply vacuum cleaning daily. It will remove all the dirt, food crumbs and other pieces of debris. With tile flooring, you have to be persistent because any residue will be visible unless you buy grey tiles. In this case, it’s much harder to spot the dirt.
Always vacuum your floor before mopping or cleaning because it will be easier to clean everything afterward.
Mop the tiles with warm water
The next step in your cleaning process is mopping. If the floor doesn’t have heavy stains that require detailed cleaning, then running a damp mop will be enough. Keep in mind to cleanse the mop in warm water after you clean one section of your floor. Repeat this action until the entire floor is mopped.
You may add a small amount of dish soap which will fasten up the cleaning. Many people also mix cleaning solutions which have a pleasant scent. If you don’t know which mop to by, then use the mop buyer’s guide by Milica Stevanovic.
On the other hand, if you are dealing with hardcore stains, then you should use a mixture of vinegar and warm water. This will dissolve any residue you may have and leave you tiles spotless. Afterward, you still need to mop the tiles with warm water and dish soap to remove the smell of vinegar.
Dry the floor
Whether you only use water, or water mixed with detergent, run a dry mop over the floor. This will ensure you have perfectly clean and shiny tiles. You don’t have wait for the floor to dry and risk anyone stepping over it, making you clean all over again.
Use a dry mop and go over small sections, until you wipe everything.
How to clean spills quickly?
The advantage of tiles is that they don’t soak up the dirt and liquids. So, you can clean any spills as soon as they happen. For instance, if you drop a glass of juice or even water, use a dry mop to pick up everything. The longer they sit, the worse it will be to clean.
Dried orange juice or other sugary liquids are sticky and tend to be challenging to clean. If you have pets, then you know that accidents can happen from time to time. In this case, it’s imperative to use a disinfectant directly over the spot and wipe it right away.
